WIPE OUT

Japan Flag   Revolving Beach Boys & Gals

Green tick  Ride the surfboard to the finish platform
Red X  Fall into the water
Skull icon  The surfboard never stops

From the starting platform; the contestant steps onto a surfboard that circles around, above a lake, in the air. They must balance on the surfboard until they reach a big pink fish.
The contestant must jump over the fish and land back on the moving surfboard, riding it until they come to a platform. Here they must step up onto the platform where a guard (usually Youshichi dressed as Pocahontas) is waiting.
The contestant has to quickly get to the other side of the platform and jump back onto the surfboard as it comes out from underneath. If they don't get back on the board the guard will throw the contestant into the water.
Once back on the surfboard the contestant has to jump over a second fish, land back on the board again, and then finally leap off onto the finishing platform.

Variations
Ep#
98 Half Boarding
In this couples' version, the man completes the first half of the game while the woman waits on the guard's platform. The man has to reach the platform and tag his partner so she can jump onto the board and finish the game.
130 Surfin' T.AI.WAN
Contestants play the Taiwanese version of Wipe Out in this special episode; which has two fish to leap over between the start and the middle platform.
131 Turf and Surf
For the obstacle course special, an extra element was added before the regular game.
All the contestants begin inside a round room which has eight fabric tubes leading out of it. They must exit via one of these tubes before heading to the surfboard. The trick is that some of the tubes are sealed at the ends and will not let them out.
The slowest to reach the Wipe Out finish platform are eliminated.

BGM:  "Surfin' U.S.A. (Instrumental)" by The Beach Boys

Wipe Out is a combination of two older games - Bridge the Gap and Fish Food.
Both were considered not too interesting, so - upon the suggestion of viewers - they were combined to create a hybrid game.
The pink fish are actually axolotl. In episode 126 they turned green.
The BGM used in the obstacle course version of Wipe Out, in episode 131, is "Waterfront" from the Super Mario Bros. 3 album by Akihabara Electric Circus.
